Losing my way and coming back

Hākinakina is a women's swimwear brand that celebrates the ocean and the outdoors.
It was founded on the belief that women shouldn’t have to compromise fashion for sun protection. We blend style and safety.
We focus on developing UPF 50+ swimwear that is stylish and long lasting. We offer a variety of UV protective styles including : rashguards, long sleeved swimsuits, sleeveless rash guards, swim shorts and high waist bottoms.
Our flattering silhouettes offer modesty, coverage and mobility both in and out of the water. They even keep you cool when damp. Each piece is sustainably made here in New Zealand. Enjoy safe sun.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do – which is why we make ALL of our swimwear out of our EcoWave, a recycled fabric made out of 100% recycled plastic bottles and waste from the Mediterranean sea.
Every garment is made from EcoWAve fabric which provides UPF 50+ coverage in a variety of UV protective styles, including: rashguards, long-sleeved swimsuits, swim shorts and swim bottoms.
Hākinakina was born after years looking for the perfect swimsuit to cover up my radiation burns, following my first brush with cancer. I was looking for swimwear that suited my love for the water and wouldn’t make me compromise on sun protection or fashion. I came up short, and decided to create them myself.
I am passionate about providing sun protection for all women to keep you safe and stylish in the sun and on the water.
So I make these pieces for you, as much as for me. To swim in, to paddle in, for sunny days and water days. I made them for you to wear a thousand times, to be your favourite thing in your summer wardrobe. I made them with a lot of love xxx
